Good Eats: Chocolate Mousse Truffle & Havana Coffee

Chocolate Mousse Truffle & a hot Havana Coffee from East Bay Coffee Company

A Perfect Pair

Lately, I've been studying at an independent coffee shop that somewhat recently opened up down the street. Studying with coffee by my side is imperative in my life, and I'm not joking. Yesterday, while I was paying for my coffee and macarons (maple bacon, ube, and green tea-yum!), I noticed a postcard on the counter with some interesting art. It was advertising the newest art exhibit that would be featured in the coffee shop. The opening ceremony was today, so I asked my fiance if he wanted to go. We got to East Bay Coffee Company as soon as the event started, but we wanted to try some pastries and get coffee first. I had never tried any of their bigger pastries (cakes, tarts, etc.), so Alejandro suggested that I try their chocolate mousse truffle, because I like chocolate. Now, I'm not a huge fan of dark chocolate, which was one of the first descriptors for this item, but I decided to give it a shot. I also got my regular order of hot Havana with almond milk (I'm lactose intolerant). We sat down at one of the tables and I dug in. Oh, my goodness! That chocolate mousse truffle was delicious! It was rich and velvety and paired perfectly with the Havana coffee. This coffee shop is going to be troublesome for me! I already have to control myself by not buying a second cup of coffee, but their pastries are just amazing! From the macarons, to the croissants, to their cakes, EBCC is really on point. I can't wait to try more pastries and different coffees from this place. I already know I'll be studying there tomorrow. :)
